The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust runs this acclaimed rescue and rehabilitation programme which is open to the public one hour every day. During the visit, you will also learn about the work of the trust and the importance of elephant conservation.
DAY TRIPS FROM NAIROBI: HELL'S GATE NATIONAL PARK
Despite its daunting name, Hell's Gate National Park offers spectacular scenery and a wide variety of wildlife. It is one of the few Kenyan national parks that you can explore safely on foot or bicycle.
Cycle past zebras, giraffes and buffaloes, trek through the gorges or climb to the top of Fischer's Tower. All the ingredients for an active day trip.

Just outside Nairobi, you will find Kenya's oldest national park. With the city as backdrop, you can see many of East Africa's most famous animals including lions, cheetas, giraffs, zebras and even black and white rhinos.
You can also visit Nairobi Animal Orphanage or take a stroll on Nairobi Safari Walk.
Day Trips from Nairobi: Lake Nakuru National Park
Lake Nakuru is a birdwatcher's paradise! The shallow alkaline lake attracts up to 1.5 million flamingos and 450 other species of birds. There is also plenty of game to be found including gazelles, hyenas, rhinos, lions, leopards and the endangered Rothschield giraffe.
Climb the Baboon Cliff or Lion Hill for great views of the lake. And if a day trip is not enough, this national park is also ideal for camping and picnics.
