Medical electives in Kenya

We offer a number of medical elective placements for students wanting to learn about medical practice and treatment in Kenya. This is a chance to treat a range of conditions that you may or may not find at home, getting hands-on experience, and gaining valuable knowledge about managing situations with limited resources.

We have organised medical electives since 2003 and we have a strong network of representatives and staff who will provide security and support during your stay. We provide all accommodation, transportation and living costs and we help arrange the elective in the hospital or clinic.

Placements are available for students studying medicine, nursing, dentistry, phisiotherapy and midwifery. Your medical elective will support Moving Mountains Kenya’s long-term health programmes and your assistance will be greatly appreciated on the ground. 

MEDICAL ELECTIVES in kenya - Where?

You are able to do placements in district/provincial hospitals or rural/slum clinics or a combination of both. The hospitals and clinics we work with are located in Embu (a peaceful town three hours north-east of Nairobi). 

Accommodation will be in our local guest house that you will share with Moving Mountains representatives and possibly other students and volunteers.
